Three Great Moments Coming to DAN DA DAN Season 2

DAN DA DAN promises more big paranormal action when it returns!

DAN DA DAN is over, but only for now! The hit Science SARU anime will return next summer with more stories of the paranormal. And judging by what we’ve seen in the teaser and key visual, we know at least a little of what’s ahead!

If you want to go in fully blind, give this article a miss. But if you want a sneak peek of the story ahead—or if you’re a manga reader and want to join in our excitement—read on!

The Arrival of the Evil Eye

Evil Eye attacks

DAN DA DAN season 1 ended on something of a cliffhanger, with Okarun and Jiji looking straight down the barrel of a major haunting. And if you’ve watched the trailer, you’ve seen the next big paranormal threat on their list: the Evil Eye, another ghostly entity with one hell of a story. Freeing Jiji from its influence is only part of the struggle. As with other spirits our heroes encounter, this one comes with a lot of baggage.

We won’t give away what that baggage is or how it’s solved. But we will say this: Acrobatic Silky isn’t the only ghost with a sad backstory. And we’ve learned from past stories that simply locking a ghost down isn’t necessarily the ideal approach. Look forward to how Jiji and the Evil Eye get to know each other in the next season!

Music Room Portraits

The music room portraits

There’s more than one paranormal threat at work in DAN DA DAN‘s Evil Eye Arc. Look closely at the season 2 key visual, and you’ll see a series of weird-looing portraits of composers. Those come from the school’s music room, and they’re… well, “haunted” isn’t the right word. What exactly these beings are is explained in the manga, and it’s a fascinating twist on the concept of hauntings. For Turbo Granny’s purposes, though, they’re sparring partners.

Okarun and Aira will face down Beethoven and company to train up their paranormal powers. We can’t wait to see how Science SARU handles these scenes. Between the musical aspect and the art style used for the composers, it promises to be absolutely bonkers.

Welcome Vamola

Vamola introduces herself

DAN DA DAN isn’t done introducing new characters… not even remotely. Momo and Okarun’s merry band is continuing to expand even as we speak. But one character we’re pretty sure we’ll see at least a little of in season 2 is Vamola. If you thought the group was getting a little ghost-heavy, worry not: she’s all alien.

Vamola appears during the Kaiju Arc, following directly on from the Evil Eye Arc. We won’t spoil how she arrives, but she looks very different when we first see her. And she, like Acrobatic Silky and the Evil Eye, brings with her an absolutely heartrending story. Be prepared to cry even more in season 2.

DAN DA DAN returns in July 2025.
