Totoro Fund Shirts and Apparel Stylishly Help Conservation Project

Japan’s Sayama Hills inspired the movie My Neighbor Totoro, with Hayao Miyazaki previously saying Totoro would never have been born if he, Miyazaki, hadn’t lived in that area. The hills are now sometimes referred to as Totoro’s Forest, and The Totoro Fund program is an org dedicated to maintaining and protecting the landscape there. And now, by buying some specific Totoro products, you can help out the fund!

The Totoro Fund apparel and fashion items can be gotten at the online Donguri Kyowakoku. It includes this T-shirt, which comes in either white or black.

Don’t forget to check out the details on the back!

There’s also this eco bag, which has the identical picture of Totoro and the soot sprites.

And Catbus gets involved with this reusable bag.

The shirts cost 3,960 yen apiece (approximately $24.75), the Totoro bag is 1,540 yen (approximately $9.75), and the Catbus bag costs a little more, at 2,750 yen (about $17.42).

GKIDS licensed My Neighbor Totoro for North American release, and gave this description of its plot:

From the legendary Studio Ghibli, creators of Spirited Away and Ponyo, and Academy Award®-winning director Hayao Miyazaki, comes a classic tale of magic and adventure for the whole family.

When Satsuki and her sister Mei move with their father to a new home in the countryside, they find country life is not as simple as it seems. They soon discover that the house and nearby woods are full of strange and delightful creatures, including a gigantic but gentle forest spirit called Totoro, who can only be seen by children. Totoro and his friends introduce the girls to a series of adventures, including a ride aboard the extraordinary Cat Bus, in this all-ages animated masterpiece featuring the voices of Tim Daly, Lea Salonga, and real-life sisters Dakota and Elle Fanning, in early roles.
