It was just announced that the anime Whisper Me a Love Song (a.k.a. Sasayaku yō ni Koi wo Utau) will premiere on April 13, a little over a month away. Its opening theme song, titled “Follow Your Arrows,” is performed by the band in the story (SSGIRLS) and has character Yori Asanagi’s singing VA Kana Sasakura doing the voice work. Meanwhile, the ending theme song is called “Gifty” and performed by VA Hana Shimano. A new key visual was also released.
Looking toward the cast, Hana Shimano plays Himari Kino, Asami Seto plays Yori Asanagi, Mikako Komatsu plays Aki Mizuguchi, Konomi Kohara plays Mari Tsutsui, Ai Kakuma plays Kaori Tachibana, Yuna Nemoto plays Shiho Izumi, Reina Ueda plays Momoka Satomiya, Chika Anzai plays Hajime Amasawa, and Aoi Koga plays Miki Mizuguchi.
The anime is being made at Yokohama Animation Lab and Cloud Hearts, with Akira Mano of Ghost Hunt helming the project as director. The person overseeing series scripts is Hiroki Uchida, known for working on Requiem of the Rose King, and The Strongest Sage With the Weakest Crest. The music is composed by both Hiroshi Sasaki and Wataru Maeguchi. Credit for character design goes to Minami Yoshida, who is known for working on Mysteria Friends.
Whisper Me a Love Song started out as a manga by Eku Takeshima. Kodansha USA is publishing it in America, and gave this description for the plot:
Bubbly, energetic first-year high school student Himari falls head over heels for her senpai Yori after hearing her band perform on the first day of school. Himari tells Yori she just loves her, and, to Himari’s surprise, Yori says she loves Himari back! But when Himari realizes that she and her senpai are feeling two different kinds of love, she begins to ask herself what “love” really means…
