Some shakeups have occurred within the Whisper Me a Love Song anime, which adapts the yuri manga by Eku Takeshima. The first full promo recently made its way online, bringing with it news that a new director is in place and the series has been delayed from January to April 2024.

The new director is Akira Mano (Ghost Hunt), who replaces previous director Xin Ya Cai. Cloud Hearts was also previously credited with animation production with Yokohama Animation Lab on “animation production supervision,” but now both are credited with animation production. Among the other newly announced staff members are art director Soshi Kuwashima, CG director Keiichi Eda, and sound directors Fumiyuki Go and Nozomi Nakatani.

Check out the trailer—which includes a sample of SSGIRLS’ “Humming Love” song—below.

The Whisper Me a Love Song TV anime is currently in the works at CLOUDHEARTS (The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World) and Yokohama Animation Lab, with Hiroki Uchida (Requiem of the Rose King) on series composition. The main cast features Hana Shimano making her debut as Himari Kino alongside Asami Seto (Mai in Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai) as Yori Asanagi.

Kodansha USA publishes the series in English and describes it:

Bubbly, energetic first-year high school student Himari falls head over heels for her senpai Yori after hearing her band perform on the first day of school. Himari tells Yori she just loves her, and, to Himari’s surprise, Yori says she loves Himari back! But when Himari realizes that she and her senpai are feeling two different kinds of love, she begins to ask herself what “love” really means…
