Hyakusho Kizoku (Peasant Noble) is a manga by Hiromu Arakawa that tells the autobiographical story of the author’s time spent on a farm, and it previously inspired an anime adaptation. That anime is now set to continue with the announcement that a second season is officially in the works.
Hyakusho Kizoku is directed by Yutaro Sawada (Inui-san!) and animated over at Pie in the sky. The series stars Mutsumi Tamura as Arakawa, the future author of manga like Silver Spoon and Fullmetal Alchemist. It also stars Mariko Honda as Ishii-san, Shigeru Chiba as Oyaji-dono and Kujira as Okan.
The original manga ran in Shinshokan’s Un Poco magazine from December 2006 to March 2009, after which it moved to Shinshokan’s WINGS magazine. The eighth collected volume hits shelves in Japan on December 20 alongside a special edition version that packs in a DVD with the 12-episode first season of the anime and two unaired episodes.
