The manga series Watari-kun’s ****** Is about to Collapse (or Watari-kun no xx ga Hōkaisunzen in the original Japanese) just concluded in the October issue of Monthly Young magazine. However, that doesn’t mean the series is over for its fans. In fact, the same issue revealed that the manga is receiving an anime adaptation!
Not a whole lot is known about the adaptation yet. For starters, there is no video. Also, the studio, staff and cast all had their names X’d out in the magazine, as a joke for the fact that part of the manga’s title is censored. (Though, to be fair, you can figure out what the title is censoring, but not the info about the anime.)
The manga is available in America through Kodansha USA Publishing, which is offering it digitally. Kodansha gave this description for the manga:
Naoto Watari has had his share of struggles: his parents died two years ago, and now he and his sister live at his aunt’s house. There, his desire to protect his sister earned him notoriety as “the guy with the sister complex”—which never mattered to him, as his sister always came first. But when Satsuki, a childhood friend-turned-enemy(?), becomes his school mate, Naoto’s ordinary life is thrown into chaos … and Satsuki may just be the beginning.
Naru Narumi, the creator of Watari-kun’s ****** Is about to Collapse, debuted the series almost 10 years ago, back in 2014. At the time it was being published by Young Ace magazine from Kadokawa. The next year it switched to being published by Monthly Young magazine, which is owned by Kodansha, and hence the connection with Kodansha USA Publishing.
Narumi is also behind the manga Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles (Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san in Japanese), which is being published in America by Dark Horse Comics.
