Uta Kawase, who is known for playing Nicole Saito in the 22/7 idol project, has unfortunately been dealing with an alleged stalker. Last month, a man followed her around, both to her home and her place of work. He also followed her to train stations. While he didn’t touch her, the stalking was obvious and creepy to Kawase, and she contacted authorities. She also went on a hiatus to get away from her stalker.
Police were zeroing in on a suspect for another crime when they looked at his phone—and realized they might have Kawase’s stalker on their hands. The phone was full of videos and pictures of her. The suspect has since confessed he was Kawase’s stalker. He was arrested on July 20.
The project put out a statement remarking that Kawase is experiencing mental trauma from being stalked, and as a result she is not taking part in this month’s concert tour, “Nananiji Natsu Matsuri 2023.”
Last summer the project also put out a statement in regards to stalkers, saying that more than one member of the group had been dealing with them.
Hopefully with this arrest Kawase can have some peace of mind and things can move forward.

One day, Miu Takigawa suddenly receives a letter notifying her that she has been chosen as a member of a brand-new project.
Half in disbelief, she heads over to the location stated on the letter. There, she finds seven other girls summoned there in the same fashion. The girls behold a giant, top-secret facility. They stand in bewilderment as they are told:
“You are going to debut for a major record label as an idol group.”
A new kind of idol, never-before-seen, is about to be born here…
