Hayao Miyazaki’s latest film, The Boy and the Heron (aka How Do You Live?), was shrouded in mystery when it was released on July 14. No information, aside from the title and poster, were available. But now that the film is out, bits of Heron-related art and music are being released.
This week, that includes the music video for the film’s ending theme, “Spinning Globe” by Kenshi Yonezu.
The music video, which was released yesterday, already has over 1 million views on YouTube. It shows Yonezu wandering through some very Ghibli-esque environments while singing the song, and includes English subtitles.
Kenshi Yonezu debuted as a Vocaloid artist under the name Hachi in 2009, and began performing under his real name and voice in 2012. His other anime contributions include Chainsaw Man, Children of the Sea, March Comes in Like a Lion and My Hero Academia.
Despite the lack of promotion, The Boy and the Heron has been doing well at the Japanese box office, taking in about 3.6 billion yen so far. Gkids will release the film in North America later this year.
