Based on the manga by Ryohgo Narita and Shinta Fujimoto, the Dead Mount Death Play anime is getting ready to continue as its second cour looms in October 2023. Ahead of that, the official website came through with updates on the new theme songs and their performers, so let’s see who will be opening and closing the series when it returns.
The new opening theme song will be “Scrap Art,” as performed by Inori Minase, who voices Hestia in Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? as well as Dead Mount Death Play heroine Misaki Sakimiya. The new ending theme song will be “Hope,” performed by Yuma Uchida, who voices Megumi Fushiguro in JUJUTSU KAISEN and Takumi Kuruya in Dead Mount Death Play.
The series also recently inspired a spinoff novel.
Manabu Ono (Sword Art Online: Alicization) is directing and writing series composition for the Dead Mount Death Play anime, with Hisashi Abe (Berserk) on character designs and F.M.F on music for the GEEKTOYS production. Crunchyroll is currently streaming the anime as it airs and describes it like so:
It’s a showdown for the ages as the legendary hero takes on the corpse god necromancer, but when the dust settles, something isn’t quite right… In the final moments of their epic confrontation, the corpse god’s final gambit shot was wholly unexpected — reincarnation magic! Across space and time, a boy named Polka Shinoyama awakens feeling…not quite himself…… Who could’ve expected that the climactic battle between good and evil would turn out like this??
