New Knuckles Spinoff Series Reveals Cast

sonic the hedgehog 2

The Sonic the Hedgehog Hollywood movies are getting a spinoff in the form of Knuckles, a series created by Paramount+ and SEGA. Its story will occur between the action of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (which came out in 2022) and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which is scheduled to come out in December 2024.

Idris Elba, who played Knuckles in the movies, will continue to voice him. In fact, a number of people from the movies are also going to be involved with the series. Jeff Fowler, the movies’ director, is in charge of directing the pilot episode. Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara continue to work as executive producers, with Elba joining them on this endeavor. John Whittington was one of the writers for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and he’ll be the main writer for the series, in addition to being an executive producer. Adam Pally, Rory McCann and Tika Sumpter will all be involved in the cast.

According to Deadline, the series is meant to be an action-packed comedy as Knuckles takes Wade under his wing to teach all about how to become an Echidna warrior.

While it’s noted that the series is in production, a launch date has not been revealed.

Paramount gave this description of Sonic the Hedgehog 2:

“The world’s favorite blue hedgehog is back for a next-level adventure in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2. After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.”
