A new trailer has dropped for The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War (known as The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki Northern War in Japanese) ahead of its January 6 debut. The trailer, which is just under three minutes, gives us our first listen-in on the ending theme song “Proud Hero” being performed by Nami Nakagawa.
You don’t hear it in this trailer, but the opening theme song is called “The story so far” and is performed by Chisato Akita. American fans who want to check out the anime will be able to find it on Crunchyroll, which is streaming it globally (except for Japan).
The anime is based on the game series The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel (Eiyū Densetsu Sen no Kiseki in Japanese) from Nihon Falcom. But the anime will be a bit different. In the game, it’s all about Rean Schwarzer and the Erebonian Empire. In the anime, the story will take place in the western segment of the Zemurian continent.
And the anime is set to receive its own smartphone game. The game is scheduled to come out sometime in 2023.
Here is what we know of the voice cast: Makoto Koichi plays Lavian Winslet, Yūichi Nakamura plays Martin S. Robinson, Sarah Emi Bridcutt plays Iseria Frost, Yūki Ono plays Talion Drake, Kouki Uchiyama plays Rean Schwarzer, Inori Minase plays Altina Orion, Jun Fukushima plays Ivano, Ryūichi Kijima plays Tack, Haruhiko Jo plays Grak Gromash, Mie Sonozaki plays Jeina Storm, and Takayuki Kondō plays Logan Mugart.
The anime is being directed by Hidekazu Sato, who has worked on The Slayers Next, Aquarion Logos, and Basquash! Character design has been tasked to Mina Ōsawa of The Strongest Sage With the Weakest Crest. Credit for original character designer goes to Shōji Hara.
