The hotly anticipated anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man is getting a sneak peek at New York Comic Con today, then officially debuting on Japanese TV and Amazon Prime Video on October 11. To keep up the momentum for promotion, six new cast members have been announced.
According to the anime’s website, Maaya Uchida will play Angel Devil, Natsuki Hanae will play Shark Fiend, Yuya Uchida will play Violence Fiend, Saori Goto will play Spider Devil, Yo Taichi will play Akane Sawatari, and Daiki Hamano will play Samurai Sword.
It had already been revealed that Kikunosuke Toya will play Denji, Tomori Kusunoki will play Makima, Shogo Sakata will play Aki Hayakawa, Fairouz Ai will play Power, Shiori Izawa will play Pochita, Mariya Ise will play Himeno, Karin Takahashi will play Kobeni Higashiyama, Taku Yashiro will play Hirokazu Arai, and Kenjiro Tsuda will play Kishibe.
Crunchyroll, which will stream the anime, is also putting out an English dubbed version. There, Ryan Colt Levy will play Denji, Suzie Yeung will play Makima, Sarah Wiedenheft will play Power, and Reagan Murdock will play Aki.
Crunchyroll gave this description of the anime:
“Denji is a teenage boy living with a Chainsaw Devil named Pochita. Due to the debt his father left behind, he has been living a rock-bottom life while repaying his debt by harvesting devil corpses with Pochita.
One day, Denji is betrayed and killed. As his consciousness fades, he makes a contract with Pochita and gets revived as ‘Chainsaw Man’–a man with a devil’s heart.”
Chainsaw Man is being made at MAPPA, with Ryū Nakayama of Black Clover helming the project as director. The scripts are being written by Hiroshi Seko, who has worked on Attack on Titan The Final Season. The task of music composition goes to kensuke ushio, who is known for A Silent Voice, DEVILMAN crybaby, and Liz and the Blue Bird.
