February kicked off with the reveal of BASTARD!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy-, a new anime adaptation of the classic manga by Kazushi Hagiwara. The latest update has the series set to run for 24 episodes sometime in 2022, and there’s also a new teaser trailer as well as new cast additions to go along with it.
First up, check out some scenes from the anime’s first five episodes:
Japanese rock band coldrain is on the opening theme song, and singer Tielle is on the ED.
Cast additions include:
Kanae Ito (Nanami Nanase in Gundam Build Divers) as Lushe Renren:
Comments:
I’m Kanae Ito, and I’ll be playing the role of Lushe Renren! My first impression of Lushe was that he was very pure and a boy who I wanted to protect. He is the opposite of Dark Schneider, so I wanted to play him with a lot of cuteness and innocence! Please look forward to it!
Tomokazu Sugita (Gintoki in Gintama) as Abigail:
Comments:
Anime adaptation?? BASTARD?? Seriously!!?? And when I was chosen to play Abigail, I felt like I smiled as the character did. I will be happy if I can face the role with sincerity and add color to the anime.
Kensho Ono (Tetsuya Kuroko in Kuroko’s Basketball) as Kall-Su:
Comments:
I’m Kensho Ono, and I will be playing the role of Kall-Su. Kall-Su, who is in a position of conflict with Dark Schneider, has a calm personality and possesses overwhelming magical power among the Four Generals. I will do my best to add flowers to this charming character. Please support us!
Nao Toyama (Rin Shima in Laid-Back Camp) as Sheila Twell Metallicana:
Comments:
I’m Nao Toyama, and I will be playing the role of Sheila. This work has many exciting highlights, such as dynamic action and glamorous scenes. What I am personally looking forward to during the recording is the diabolical enemy characters. The senior voice actors are playing them very vividly, showing their amazing ability. It’s breathtaking…! In the age of Reiwa, I will do my best to deliver the new charm of “BASTARD!” Please look forward to it!
Kazushi Hagiwara’s Bastard!! manga originally ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1988-1989, followed by a later run from 1997-2000 before heading to Ultra Jump magazine in 2000. Takaharu Ozaki (GOBLIN SLAYER, Girls’ Last Tour) is directing the anime, with Yosuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia) on series composition and Sayaka Ono (CROSS ANGE Rondo of Angel and Dragon) on character designs for the LIDEN FILMS production.
