The New Year is almost upon us, and that means more Demon Slayer goodies! This time the Japan Post Co. is involved with Demon Slayer mailboxes and New Year’s cards.
The Ikebukuro district in Tokyo now has three Demon Slayer mailboxes. The first, of course, has star Tanjiro Kamado. His mailbox is right by the Ikebukuro Station in the Minami-Ikebukuro district. The mailbox also has his checkered shirt design. It says, “Let’s totally concentrate on celebrating the new year!”
The next mailbox has Kyojuro Rengoku, and it can be found by the Toshima post office in the Higashi-Ikebukuro district. Rengoku says, “Burn your heart in the new year again!”
The final mailbox goes to Tengen Uzui, and it’s located by the Sunshine 60 skyscraper complex in Higashi-Ikebukuro. It says, “Things will be really flashy next year, too!”
There are also four different Demon Slayer New Year’s cards that can be purchased across Japan at post offices. Japan Post also has them up for sale.
The mailboxes are already proving popular for fans, who are going to them for pictures. If they share the pictures online, this in turn gets more people interested in the mailboxes, and possibly in the Demon Slayer cards as well. Since the franchise has become a worldwide phenomenon, fans outside of Japan might want to send Demon Slayer New Year’s cards, too.
VIZ Media publishes the original Demon Slayer manga in America. They gave this description for the first volume:
“Learning to destroy demons won’t be easy, and Tanjiro barely knows where to start. The surprise appearance of another boy named Giyu, who seems to know what’s going on, might provide some answers—but only if Tanjiro can stop Giyu from killing his sister first!”
