Funimation, Crunchyroll Will Stream New Attack on Titan Season as it Airs

Part 2 of Attack on Titan The Final Season comes out on January 9, and Funimation and Crunchyroll are ready to stream it around the world.

“That’s right, the continuation of Attack on Titan Final Season will stream on Funimation as it airs in Japan, picking up where Episode 75 left off, as Reiner heads into battle against Eren,” Funimation wrote on its blog. “Stay tuned for exact broadcast details as the series streams on Funimation in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Australia and New Zealand.”

And Crunchyroll explained, “MAPPA’s production of Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 kicks off with episode 76, which is officially set to go live on Crunchyroll on January 9, 2022 in the following territories: US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, LATAM, Europe, the Middle East and Russia.”

The previous season finished in March. Over in Japan the channel NHK is airing compilation specials as reminders to people of what has happened so far, giving them a refresher before the new episodes come out. The cast is returning, as is the MAPPA staff from the last season. That means Yuichiro Hayashi is directing, Hiroshi Seko is series screenwriter, and Tomohiro Kishi is doing character designs. The music is composed by both Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto.

Kodansha publishes the original manga in America, and gave this description of it:

“A century ago, the grotesque giants known as Titans appeared and consumed all but a few thousand humans. The survivors took refuge behind giant walls. Today, the threat of the Titans is a distant memory, and a boy named Eren yearns to explore the world beyond Wall Maria. But what began as a childish dream will become an all-too-real nightmare when the Titans return and humanity is once again on the brink of extinction …

Attack on Titan is the award-winning and New York Times-bestselling series that is the manga hit of the decade! Spawning the monster hit anime TV series of the same name, Attack on Titan has become a pop culture sensation.”
