The second part of the OAD The Ancient Magus’ Bride -The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm (Mahō Tsukai no Yome: Nishi no Shōnen to Seiran no Kishi in the original Japanese) has released a trailer.

The OAD consists of three episodes. Fans in Japan can buy them bundled with the manga in limited edition bundles. The sixteenth volume of the manga — and the first OAD — came out in September. The seventeenth volume of the manga, with the OAD previewed here, will come out in March. The eighteenth volume and the third OAD will be released September 10, 2022, exactly one year after the first limited edition release. We’ve also been teased that these OADs are only the first part of a new anime project, though we really don’t know anything beyond that.

The anime is being directed by Kazuaki Terasawa, who previously worked as an episode director on Anonymous Noise. It’s being made at Studio Kafka. Multiple people from the anime are reprising their roles for the OADs. For instance, Junichi Matsumoto is back to compose music, Hirotaka Katō is back for character design, and Aya Takaha is back to write the scripts. Takaha will be joined in the scriptwriting by Yoko Yonaiyama, who previously wrote episodes for Uma Musume Pretty Derby.

If you don’t live in Japan to buy the bundles, the OADs are being made available through Crunchyroll. Besides streaming them in North America, Crunchyroll will also make them available in Europe, South America, Central America, Africa, the Middle East, Oceania and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the original manga in English, and gave this description of the first volume:

“Her name is Chise Hatori, a penniless orphan troubled by visions. Sold as a slave to an inhuman mage, she is about to begin a strange new life, filled with magic, fairies, and other beings of a fantastical nature.”
