Demon Slayer Breaks Records in Japan with Movie’s Home Release

The Demon Slayer movie is out to buy in Japan, and it’s already broken records. The day it was released it sold 218,000 regular-edition DVDs and 268,000 limited-edition Blu-ray Discs. Regular edition Blu-ray Discs and limited edition DVDs were also released. These numbers add up to more than any other Japanese releases have made in a week this year, let alone a day. Earlier in 2021 the record belonged to Snow Man Asia Tour 2D.2D, having sold 236,000 Blu-ray Discs and 170,000 DVDs during its first week out.

The limited-edition Blu-ray contains a number of extra goodies, including special illustrations, audio commentary track from the voice actors, the film score on CD, and a booklet with discussions and interviews with the cast and crew.

Meanwhile, Funimation is scheduled to release the movie digitally in North America on June 22.
