Studio Ghibli and Animage Magazine Hold Joint Exhibit in Tokyo

The event Animage and Ghibli Exhibition – Ghibli Began from the Pages of One Magazine has opened and will be around until May 5. It’s located in Tokyo’s Matsuya Ginza department store.

Miyazaki’s Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind manga was initially serialized in Animage magazine, and if this hadn’t happened, Studio Ghibli probably never would have begun. So the two businesses are celebrating their connections, displaying everything from archives taken from the Ghibli Museum to Ghibli-themed issues of Animage.

Sumi Shimamoto, who voiced Nausicaä and Clarisse in the original Japanese version of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and The Castle of Cagliostro, respectively, has recorded an audio guide for people attending. There’s also a short video of her at the opening of the exhibit.

Special Ghibli-inspired foods like Coffee Mocha Float in the Sky and Valley of the Wind Mont Blanc will be served, and commemorative goods will be sold, like Animage bonus supplements.
