Hayao Miyazaki Eats at Studio Ghibli Café Like Any Other Customer

hayao mizazaki and toshio suzuki at ghibli cafe

Japan has a thing for specialty cafés, including the Studio Ghibli Museum’s Straw Hat Café. The other day Studio Ghibli founders Hayao Miyazaki and Toshio Suzuki attended to their café like any other customers, and they shared a video of it.

Along with the two Ghibli giants was Hayao’s son, Goro Miyazaki. In a video shared by the Japanese site grape, you can see the men come in, order, wait their turn, eat outside, and gush over how great the food is as they thank the staff.

According to grape, the Studio Ghibli Museum’s Straw Hat Café had been closed for a while because of COVID, and this video is here to show that the café is back open and that social distancing rules are in place and the staff is wearing masks. You can also see Miyazaki use some hand sanitizer when he first steps into the building.

The video is also to show that the café has a new menu. Did you get a load of the cream soda float Miyazaki can’t resist?
