Like anyone who sat down to My Next Life as a Villainess: All Roads Lead to Doom!, we can’t wait for the second season. The isekai light novel turned anime ended up being absolutely charming and adorable. No matter what Catarina Claes may have been doomed to become, she’s certainly on a fast track to circumventing it.
For those unfamiliar with My Next Life as a Villainess, a quick catch-up: as a child, young rich girl Catarina hits her head and remembers her past life. As it happens, she was once a normal Japanese high school girl into a dating sim known as Fortune Lover. When she dies, she’s reincarnated into the world of the game… but as the player character’s rival, who’s doomed to banishment at best and death at worst. Fortunately, her knowledge of the game helps her avoid the doom flags — and, whether she knows it or not, make the lives of everyone around her better.
We got the game’s official ending at the end of Season 1. But there’s more to come, and Catarina can probably move a little more freely now. So, which of Fortune Lover‘s many lovers should she end up with? Here’s a few of our top picks.
Maria Campbell
The player character of Fortune Lover, Maria Campbell is initially an odd presence in My Next Life as a Villainess. She and Catarina end up hitting it off, as (unlike her original game counterpart) Catarina is upbeat, caring, and really loves sweets. The two hit it off incredibly well… to the point that even Maria speaks up about it. But even in the long run, these two would make a great (and ironic) couple.
Alan Stuart
Choosing from the actual potential suitors of Fortune Lovers feels a bit basic, but they’re there for a reason. And in My Next Life as a Villainess, they all only have eyes for Catarina. While any of them could be an interesting pairing, it’s the competitive Alan Stuart who offers the most intriguing potential.
Alan and Catarina’s early relationship was based on competition, and the two of them (whether intentionally or not) ended up helping each other grow and challenge themselves as well. A long-term relationship between the two could mean a lot of growth (and fun) for both of them!
Literally Everyone
Let’s just stop pretending. Catarina has charmed the cotton socks off every single person in this show (and all the viewers to boot). This setup is perfect as is. Let her have all the guys and all the girls and live her best otome game life. It’s possible the one pure harem ending you’ll ever see in anime.
Details are sparse for the second season of My Next Life as a Villainess, save that it’s coming next year. We can’t wait to see what’s next for Catarina and her many admirers!
