Look throughout the history of anime and you’ll see clearly defined stylistic eras. Series from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s have their own distinct look when compared to the shows of today, but how has anime art changed over the past decade?
While there’s definitely more to it than a simple piece of art can convey, a 2ch forum user recently made a succinct comparison between 2009 and 2019. You may have noticed some of the differences below, which really come down to the size and depiction of certain features and other little details.
The artist previously did a comparison between 2010 and 2017 that falls along the same lines.
