Classic Boxing Manga Ashita no Joe Inspires New TV Anime

ashita no joeNext year marks the 50th anniversary of the highly influential boxing manga Ashita no Joe (Tomorrow’s Joe), which was written by Ikki Kajiwara (as Asao Takamori) and illustrated by Tetsuya Chiba between 1968 and 1973. Naturally, there are anniversary projects planned, including a new TV anime from TMS Entertainment.

The new anime project is titled Megalo Box, and it’s set to premiere in spring 2018 with Yo Moriyama (visual concept designer for the Attack on Titan anime) as director. Katsuhiko Mamabe (Fist of the North Star: The Legends of the True Savior) will serve as series composition/script writer alongside Kensaku Kojima (Shinya Shokudou), and producer mabanua will handle the music.
