Leaks, hacks, identity theft, fraud: online crime is on the rise around the world, and Japan is no exception. But not to worry: AKB48 is on the case.
Three members of the Akihabara-based idol group appeared at an event with law enforcement in Akihabara to spread awareness about internet crime prevention, says Tokyo Reporter.
The three members, Rena Kato, Yui Yokoyama and Haruka Komiyama held figures of the official Tokyo Metropolitan Police mascot Pipo-kun as they discussed online crime in front of about 200 businesspeople.
Kato reminded said businesspeople that keeping one’s operating system and antivirus software up to date is in important way to fight online crime.
