Funimation Announces My Hero Academia Season 2 License

My Hero Academia returns later this month with a recap episode before jumping into new episodes, and Funimation confirmed that they have the rights to the second season. The series will stream in the United States, Canada, UK, and Ireland on Saturday, April 1, which is the same day of its broadcast debut in Japan.

If you’re wondering about that earlier March 25 premiere, that’s a season 1 recap episode. Funimation acknowledged the difference in the press release so as not to confuse any fans that thought the new episodes would be premiering earlier.

Speaking of My Hero Academia season 2, it looks like it could be longer than the first. French home video listings from anime distributor Kazé—which has plans to release both seasons on DVD and Blu-ray—have the second season split into two 12-episode sets. That suggests we have a two-cour (half a year) run to look forward to, but we’ll have to wait for official confirmation on that.
