This is not an April Fools’ joke. Probably.
Sakura, she of the cardcaptoring, was born April 1, and the cast of the original anime are taking the opportunity to celebrate the character’s birthday with fans.
The party will take place in Rune Kodaira Great Hall in Tokyo, which holds 1,229 humans.
Cast members assembling for the celebration include:
Sakura Tange (Sakura)
Junko Iwao (Tomoyo)
Aya Hisakawa (Kero-chan)
Motoko Kumai (Li)
Megumi Ogata (Yukito)
As fans of the series know, Cardcaptor Sakura is back in action for its 20th anniversary. A new manga by original creators CLAMP is running in Nakayoshi magazine, and a new anime series will debut in 2018 – meaning the cast are about to start spending a lot more time together.
Of course, there are far more than 1,229 Cardcaptor Sakura fans in Tokyo, so those who wish to attend the birthday party will have to apply via a raffle.
Those who don’t make it in will just have to comfort themselves with the knowledge a new series is on the way.
