Sentai Filmworks has been expanding its fall 2015 lineup recently, and the latest series to join in on the fun is Young Black Jack. The prequel that follows Osamu Tezuka’s surgeon in his early years will be available via select digital outlets like Crunchyroll soon, with a home video release to follow.
Young Black Jack is based on the manga written by Yoshiaki Tabata and illustrated by Yūgo Ōkuma. Atsuko Kase directs, while Ryosuke Takahashi and Yoshiaki Tabata handle series composition and scripting, respectively, for the Tezuka Productions outing.
Sentai’s synopsis:
[Young Black Jack] focuses on Osamu Tezuka’s beloved character, Black Jack, in his years as a medical student. Young Black Jack will explore the formative years of one of manga’s most mysterious and iconic characters as he strives to become a master surgeon.
