After a far too long-lingering shroud of doubt, Sega has finally put the minds of fans at ease by officially announcing plans to bring Yakuza 3 (Ryu ga Gotoku 3) to United States and European Playstation 3 owners. With an announcement like this, I doubt anyone’s going to mind the lack of period-piece spin-off Yakuza Kenzan on the horizon.
German Amazon listings previously hinted at the title’s eventual journey to the west, but it’s nice to get some actual confirmation of Sega following through on one of their most fan-requested offerings.
Yakuza 3 has sold half a million copies in Japan since its February 26, 2009 debut. Hopefully it can find similar success on both the shores of America and Europe, but for now we can breathe a sigh of relief that it will even get that chance. Now, practice your very best smooth moves to use on the game’s various alluring hostesses!
