November 12, 2009 It’s only been announced for Japan at this point, but Namco Bandai Games came out with some details on their upcoming Sgt. Frog RPG, titled Keroro RPG: The Knight, The Warrior and the Legendary Pirate. While an official date isn’t set, the game is due out sometime next year in Japan on Nintendo DS.
What’s really exciting about this news is that the game hails from Namco’s Tales Studio development team, which has a well-crafted, fast battle system ideal for such a wild series. Famitsu has some choice quotes from head of development Ryuji Ohtate, who says that “The Linear Motion Battle System in the Tales series was created in the first place in order to bring the fun of 2D fighting games into RPG battles…”
We may have to wait a while to find out when, or even if, the game will make an appearance on our shores. In the meantime, start visualizing over-the-top RPG battles starring your favorite easily distracted frog platoon soldiers (and check out our look at season one part one here).
