Virtual Boy: Comin’ Atcha In 2009 Edition

It’s Monday, so that must mean it’s time for the popularly irregular Virtual Boy! Or should that be “irregularly popular”? Either way, our formerly weekly roundup of everything new on Wii’s Virtual Console has been in disrepair of late, but it’s a new year, and there’s never a better time to raise the dead and reinstate old regulars in the company of resolutions and other life-changing declarations.
Unbefitting of a new year, this week’s offerings are slim, to say the least. On the Virtual Console front, there is but a lone soldier guarding the weathered treasures beyond. We all know him as Kirby and, on the bright side, I can’t think of a more formidable foe. How exactly does one kill Kirby anyway? Find out in
Kirby’s Dream Land 3, originally released on
Super Nintendo in
1997, which makes it one of the last games ever released on the system. It can now be yours for the price of
8 US dollars (800 Wii Points). As simple as they are, I’ve always really enjoyed the Kirby games.
The other release this week is a WiiWare game by
Konami called
Sandy Beach. It’s a sand castle building game priced at
$5 (500 Wii Points) that allows the player to either peacefully build their castles or face off against crabs in Crab Battle mode.
