What happens when the star general of the Three Kingdoms era ends up transported to modern day Tokyo? It’s Ya Boy Kongming!, of course, and the anime adaptation of writer Yuto Yotsuba and illustrator Ryo Ogawa’s comedy manga series of the same name is on the way to TV in Japan soon. According to the latest update, the series is set to kick off on April 5, and you can watch as Kongming and co. get down in the new promo.
In addition to more scenes from the anime, you’ll get a taste of the opening theme song by QUEENDOM—a new group that consists of hibiki and moka from lol, Akina and Taki from FAKY, and Maria Kaneya from GENIC, who provide a cover of Jolly’s “CIKI CIKI BAM BAM” dance song—in the video below.
Ryotaro Okiayu (Byakuya Kuchiki in Bleach) is in the lead as Kongming, with Kaede Hondo (Sakura Minamoto in ZOMBIE LAND SAGA) as Eiko Tsukumi. Osamu Honma (episode director for The aquatope on white sand) is directing, Yoko Yonaiyama (Umamusume: Pretty Derby) is on series composition, and Kanami Sekiguchi (SHIROBAKO) is character designer for the P.A. Works production.
Kodansha publishes the manga in English and describes it:
The Tokyo Party Scene isn’t NEAR ready for the star general of the Three Kingdoms era, but he sure is ready for it! Get down, shake your thing, and prepare to laugh out loud with this historical fantasy timeslip comedy, Ya Boy Kongming!
