Witch Watch Anime Premiere Date Set in New Trailer

Witch Watch

A new trailer is here for the Witch Watch anime, which adapts the manga of the same name by Kenta Shinohara and is coming to Netflix and theaters via GKIDS. The latest preview reveals an April 6, 2025 streaming premiere date and an opening song by none other than YOASOBI, who will perform “Watch Me!”

Here’s what YOASOBI had to say about the song:

We are YOASOBI. We are honored to provide the opening theme song, “Watch me!” for this show. I, Ayase, love WITCH WATCH, of course, but have been a fan of Kenta Shinohara-Sensei’s works since “SKET DANCE,’, so I was very honored to be a part of this project. The song “Watch me!” that I wrote for this series is focused on the pure romantic feelings that the main character Nico has for her childhood friend, Morihito. I love Nico-chan as a character, and how she falls in love with Morihito, and I think the song expresses Nico’s cuteness.

And here’s a visual from MBS and GKIDS:

GKIDS’ screenings of the first three episodes will come ahead of the TV premiere when the event opens in North American cinemas on March 16-18.

The folks behind the adaptation of Witch Watch include director Hiroshi Ikehata (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), screenwriter Deko Akao (Shadowverse) and character designer Haruko Iizuka (Ensemble Stars!). It’s being animated at Bibury.

Witch Watch launched in 2021. Shinohara is also known for Astra Lost in Space, which got an anime adaptation back in 2019.

Here’s how VIZ Media describes it:

Witch Watch Plot

NIko’s magic leads to all sorts of unpredictable trouble, and with two teens under one roof… Let the fantastical antics begin! Magical comedy series by Kenta Shinohara creator of SKET DANCE and Astra Lost in Space.
