Next Season’s Anime Heroes Are Finally Getting Appreciated

Next season's anime heroes are going to be getting some serious appreciation!

It’s becoming a more frequent story in fantasy anime: a hard worker in an adventuring party, often support class, goes unappreciated. But when they leave, their once top-tier party collapses. Meanwhile, the unappreciated support is off making friends and winning battles with people who actually care. And the winter 2025 season promises to be full of such stories.

Get ready to meet the anime heroes who are doing the most but being praised the least… at least for now. And get ready to watch them make the most of their lives once they start surrounding themselves with the right people!

Sung Jinwoo – Solo Leveling Season 2

Sung Jinwoo

Sung Jinwoo has returned for a second season! The once-hapless star of Solo Leveling, based on the novel and manhwa of the same name, is pretty much the poster child for underestimated anime heroes. In the world of this series, he is considered humanity’s worst hunter. Even his attempts to save fellow Hunters in an uncommonly dangerous dungeon go awry when they sacrifice him to make their own escape. But that sacrifice ends up working out for him in the end.

A seasons and a film later, Sung Jinwoo fights on. He’s competing on a level beyond Hunters, learning the truth behind the dungeons they brave and the dangerous games humanity plays. Catch up to season 1 so you’ll be ready when the new season begins!

Solo Leveling Season 2 premieres in January 2025.

Ein – Even Given the Worthless “Appraiser” Class, I’m Actually the Strongest

Ein

True anime heroes can come from any background—even allegedly worthless ones. Take Ein, the protagonist of Even Given the Worthless “Appraiser” Class, I’m Actually the Strongest. Like all people of his world, he got his class at birth and it won’t change. Being an Appraiser means he’s left to handle the grudge work for his parties, figuring out what’s sellable and craftable after big kills. He’s also apparently serviceable as bait, left to die by his party. But he survives thanks to a very affectionate World Tree spirit named Yuri.

Now, with Yuri’s healing essence and the hardcore training of Yuri’s mother Ursula, Ein is about to reach his true potential. Grueling training (and a body mod or two) unlocks the heights to which an Appraiser can soar. Can’t wait to see for yourself? Read the manga adaptation from Kodansha!

Even Given the Worthless “Appraiser” Class, I’m Actually the Strongest premieres January 9, 2025.

Yuke – I Left My A-Rank Party to Help My Former Students Reach the Dungeon Depths!

Yuke

Behind all the best anime heroes is a good support. And heck, sometimes, they are the best heroes. The dungeon delvers of I Left My A-Rank Party to Help My Former Students Reach the Dungeon Depths! don’t seem to understand this, though. Despite all his hard work, Yuke is taken advantage of by his original party. But when he leaves, they suddenly realize just how much their support guy was doing. And you know who else realizes it? Clover, his new party made up of his past students!

Together, the four founding members of Clover brave difficult dungeons, forge bonds of friendship, and get sponsorships on their world’s magic mirror streams. And together, they might just be able to fulfil Yuke’s dream. Want to get a jump start on their happy adventures? Read the manga adaptation from Kodansha!

I Left My A-Rank Party to Help My Former Students Reach the Dungeon Depths! premieres January 12, 2025.
