Surfing Franchise WAVE!! Surfing Yappe!! Catches Three Anime Films

Surfing Franchise WAVE!! Surfing Yappe!! Catches Three Anime FilmsSurf’s up, dudes. WAVE!! Surfing Yappe!!, a multimedia project centered around, well, surfing, is coming to screens with an anime film trilogy starting this year.

The news came with a teaser trailer for those films, showing off the character designs and a few animated scenes.

WAVE!! Surfing Yappe!! centers around two friends, Masaki Hinaoka (Tomoaki Maeno) and Sho Akitsuki (Jin Ogasawara) who get hooked on surfing.

The films will be directed by Takaharu Ozaki (Goblin Slayer) with scripts from Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Dropkick on My Devil!) and character designs by Tomoko Iwasa (Hakumei and Mikochi). They’ll be animated at Asahi Production.

The WAVE!! project was inspired by the now-delayed Tokyo Olympics, which are set to feature surfing in competition for the first time in Olympic history.
