The brawlin’ gurus at Capcom have always operated with a strict “strike while the iron is hot” philosophy, which is probably why we’ve already seen a steady string of Street Fighter IV iterations, each addition to the franchise serving to remind us that fighting games are back and here to stay (we hope). Street Fighter X Tekken is the latest in line, and Capcom unveiled some nice videos showing it off at their Captivate 2011 press event.

The one you should really pay attention to is the gameplay vid, embedded below. It’ll give you an idea of why I lumped this in with SFIV, as it takes the overall design of Capcom’s mega-hit and adds in tag-team functionality and a slew of Namco ne’erdowells.

There’s also a cinematic trailer to dig into at the source link below. It should be interesting to see how Namco’s Tekken-based contribution to this showdown turns out. Street Fighter X Tekken is scheduled to hit consoles and PC in 2012.
