Vertical Manga App Jump Toon Announced by Shueisha

Vertical Manga App Jump Toon Announced by ShueishaSmartphones have turned the world sideways, and traditional media has started to go vertical in response. Now Shueisha, the Japanese publishing giant behind Shonen Jump, is getting into the game. The company just announced a vertical scrolling manga app called Jump Toon, which is set to launch in 2024.

To kick off the app, Shueisha is holding a contest, taking submissions of vertical manga. The contest is open until August 31, and the grand prize includes 1 million yen and a serialization contract in Jump Toon. Get drawing, folks!

What do you think of vertical manga: a debasement of a proud horizontal tradition or the inevitable future?
