TSUKIPRO THE ANIMATION 2 Delayed as Staff Members Contract COVID

Anime being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic has become a regular occurrence, but in the case of TSUKIPRO THE ANIMATION 2, it’s because of multiple key staff members coming down with the virus themselves. This has made the act of completing work on the new season difficult, so it will be postponed starting with episode 9.

The official announcement states that “it is expected that the production will be significantly delayed,” and this delay will affect the final four episodes of the season. The season will return to the airwaves this October, and for now episodes 9-13 have been penciled in for December. Episodes of the first season will air in place of the final four as the staff members affected take the time to recover.

Hopefully they’ll bounce back speedily and safely. The only mention of their condition on the website is that they are currently in isolation receiving treatment.

TSUKIPRO THE ANIMATION 2 first began its broadcast in July. While Crunchyroll streamed the first season, Sentai Filmworks licensed the second. Here’s how the former describes the series:

SOARA, Growth, SolidS, and QUELL are four groups belonging to Tsukino Entertainment Production (AKA TSUKIPRO). The slice of life music anime “PRO ANI” depicting their music overflowing with uniqueness and the drama surrounding their lives begins now! Will you open this glittering treasure box of music?

It all sounds a lot like what director Takashi Watanabe has been worried about happening.
