Takuma Morishige followed up the Tonari no Seki-kun (My Neighbor Seki) manga with Tonari no Seki-kun Junior in July 2020, following the daily challenges of original protagonist Yokoi as the mother of a toddler who looks a lot like Seki-kun. Now, after 31 chapters, the series has come to an end in the June issue of Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Flapper magazine.
The third collected volume will hit shelves in Japan on June 22.
The original Tonari no Seki-kun manga started in 2010 and was released in English through Vertical Comics. The series inspired both a live-action series and an anime adaptation, which premiered in 2014 and is available to stream on Crunchyroll as Tonari no Seki-kun: The Master of Killing Time.
Here’s how Vertical describes the series:
Seki is the quite type. Smart and pretty cool-headed Seki is generally your average everyday student. But when he is at his desk way at the back his homeroom, he reveals a creative side that few people get to experience. Hidden from the eyes of his teachers, Seki is often found tinkering on and around his desk, creating the most complicated of projects often stretching the imagination…mainly cause he’s got nothing better to do.
