The Best Games to Play With Your LDR

Whether you live a couple of hours or a few thousand miles away, long-distance love has its challenges. Nothing beats seeing your person, well, in person. Thankfully, video chat platforms like Discord, and digital services make it easier to connect with your LDR. When relying on online experiences as a form of dating, multiplayer online games are another popular choice to fan the flames between you and your partner.

A game night is perfect for your digital date night any time of year, but if you want a cute digital Valentine’s Day date that requires active communication and problem-solving to bring you closer, this may be the perfect idea. So go ahead and let sparks fly with these co-op video games.

It Takes Two

It Takes Two is our first choice of date night games to introduce to your long-distance relationship. It’s right there in the name, this game takes two people to play. Named The Game Award’s Game of the Year in 2021, It Takes Two is the real deal.

Much like your blossoming relationship, working together to solve challenges is the entirety of It Takes Two gameplay. Playing as May and Cody, a strained couple turned into dolls, you must work with your partner to defeat woodland creatures and crazed household items to repair a marriage and show up for their daughter, Rose.

Luckily, only one party needs to purchase the game. It Takes Two utilizes Friend’s Pass to play online and can also be played on one device locally when you meet up IRL again.

Pokemon TCG Live

If you and your LDR are Pokémon enthusiasts, Pokémon TCG Live is a great app to download and battle one another in real-time. Perfect for a casual and free experience that only requires your phone and a wifi connection.

A little friendly competition can teach you a lot about your partner, and their battle style will reveal another side of their personality you may not have been able to witness before. This app is great for those who want to learn how to properly play the Pokémon Trading Card Game and level up their decks online and in person if you collect cards.

Fall Guys

Another fun and free option is Fall Guys. We love that Fall Guys can handle cross-play on different consoles and devices. Are you a PC gamer and your boo-thang more into the Switch? You both can still join each other’s party and battle royale for the crown at the end.

Plus, there are always new updates that make logging in to test new levels and win character accessories fun.

LEGO Fortnite

Fortnite‘s most recent update, LEGO Fortnite, is the perfect blend of a crafting sim and survival mode. If getting your significant other to play regular Fortnite was difficult, this LEGO version is a friendlier alternative that requires communication and team efforts to build a successful village.

Another free-to-download and free-to-play option, LEGO Fortnite is a great date night game that focuses more on the experience without needing to front up some cash.

What video games do you love playing in your long-distance relationship? We also can’t wait to play Flock by Hollow Ponds in co-op mode when it releases this year.
