Tasūketsu Horror Manga Receiving Anime Adaptation

At both AnimeJapan 2019 and AnimeJapan 2020, the manga Tasūketsu by Taiga Miyakawa was among the top 10 titles for “manga we want to see animated.” Now, in 2024, those fans are getting their wish, and I’m not talking about the Tasūketsu: Judgement Assizes anime short that was crowdfunded. Satelight revealed it’s adapting the story into a full TV anime, no crowdfunding necessary. It will premiere sometime before 2025, though an exact date hasn’t been released yet. However, we do have this trailer to give us an idea of what to expect.

Tatsuo Satō, who has previously worked on Martian Successor Nadesico, is helming the project as the director as well as being the person who oversees scripts. The musical composer is R.O.N, known for working on FLCL Alternative and The Slime Diaries. The assistant director is Tōru Hamazaki, whose background includes being an episode director for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean.

Here’s what we know about voice talents: Yūto Uemura plays Saneatsu Narita, Anna Nagase plays Saaya Fujishiro, Kazuki Ura plays Ryūta Ichinose, Kouki Ohsuzu plays Kazuhiko Satō, Shiori Mikami plays Omi Jin, Yuki Nakashima plays Eren Kunashiri, Daisuke Ono plays Tōjūrō Yagihashi, Jun Kasama plays Ryōei Sudō, Shūta Morishima plays Sōtarō Shinozaki, KENN plays Ren Iruga, Kenjiro Tsuda plays Hisoka Midō, and Yuka Terasaki plays Emperor.

Though the series has obviously been popular in Japan, the manga hasn’t been licensed in America. With the announcement of the anime, though, that may change. Here’s the story’s description:

All of a sudden, people all over the world die because of a majority decision started by the “Emperor.” Survivors have to take a majority decision at 00:00 am, then the majority of people will have to die. The protagonist high school boy Saneatsu Narita and his schoolmates decide to defeat the Emperor.

The original Tasūketsu manga launched a little more than a decade ago, in 2013.
