Another manga has its ending plans out in public thanks to an Amazon listing, and this time it’s Space Brothers. Chuya Koyama’s manga first started its run in Morning magazine back in 2007, and now the Amazon listing’s peek at the cover says the series will come to an end with volume 46.
Volume 46 is set to ship in Japan on July 23, so the ending is right around the corner. Prior to this, back in January 2022, Koyama said he planned to kick off the final arc in the same year. Koyama then reported that the manga was in its final stage in December 2022. It was previously reported that the manga would end with volume 43, but the series continued for a bit longer.
Space Brothers previously inspired an anime adaptation that ran from 2012 to 2014. There was also a live-action film in 2012 and a Space Brothers #0 anime film that launched with the special edition version of volume 29.
Kodansha USA publishes the Space Brothers manga in English and describes the story like so:
Two brothers looked to the starry skies as children and made a promise… Now, in the year 2025, the younger brother, Hibito, is carrying his out. He is an astronaut who has been selected as a crew member for mankind’s first long-term base on the moon. Meanwhile, the older brother, Mutta, has just been fired from his job and is unemployed, but decides to trust himself just one last time. A text message from Hibito sends him applying to be an astronaut too and shooting for the stars… The official Space Brothers manga is ready to launch!
