The second season of Solo Leveling, titled Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-, will be here in January. Ahead of this a new trailer has dropped, and it lets us listen to the upcoming, new opening theme song, “ReawakeR.” “ReawakeR” is performed by LiSA, who might be best known for her Demon Slayer performance, as well as by Felix from Stray Kids, a South Korean boy band. The new theme song was produced by composer Hiroyuki Sawano, whose past credits include Attack on Titan and Blue Exorcist.

The first season of the anime and beginning of the second is also receiving a compilation movie called Solo Leveling -ReAwakening-. It will receive a limited North American theatrical release, hitting the big screen on December 6.

Solo Leveling started out as a web novel series by South Korean writer Chugong, and would later receive a comic adaptation as well as an anime. Yen Press releases both the novels and comics in print. Tapas releases them digitally.

Crunchyroll gave this description for the Solo Leveling anime adaptation:

Solo Leveling Synopsis

It’s been over a decade since the sudden appearance of the “gates”—the paths that connect our world with a different dimension. Since then, certain humans have awakened to supernatural powers. We call these individuals “hunters.” Hunters make their living by using their powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates. In this world of tough customers, the low-ranked hunter Jinwoo Sung is known as “the weakest hunter of all mankind.” One day, Jinwoo gets fatally injured when he runs into high-rank double dungeons hidden within a low-rank dungeon. Just then, a mysterious quest window appears in front of him. On the verge of death, Jinwoo decides to accept the quest and starts leveling up… while the others aren’t.
