Japan puts on a ton of stage plays inspired by manga and anime, but only a select few of us can say we actually made the trip to see them. Thankfully, shows like the Hunter x Hunter play tend to share digest videos for a look at the performances, and that’s exactly what happened with the latest stage outing based on Yoshihiro Togashi’s beloved manga.
The clip below is from the second Hunter x Hunter show, which opened in Tokyo’s Galaxy Theater on March 16 and ran until March 31. Next up for the show is a series of performances at Umeda Art Theater’s Theater Drama City in Osaka from April 6 to 14. Let’s see how the cast looks on stage:
As you may have noticed, the second show is a bit different, moving beyond the first’s Hunter Exam and Zoldyck Family arc adaptation to cover the Yorknew City arc.
VIZ Media publishes Hunter x Hunter in English and gave this description for the first volume:
“Gon might be a country boy, but he has high aspirations. Despite his Aunt Mito’s protests, Gon decides to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a legendary Hunter. The Hunter hopefuls begin their journey by storm-tossed ship, where Gon meets Leorio and Kurapika, the only other applicants who aren’t devastated by bouts of seasickness.
Having survived the terrors of the high seas, Gon and his companions now have to prove their worth in a variety of tests in order to find the elusive Exam Hall. And once they get there, will they ever leave alive…?”
