There’s just too much going on for one small post to contain it all! A couple more company-specific news bits are lurking below, all of which you’re likely familiar with if you found yourself running about the high-attendance con (paid and guest badges combined, it looks to have hit around 50,000) this past weekend, or perhaps holing away like myself and catching up on announcements from afar:
– Dark Horse announced the acquisition of an Evangelion manga based on one of the series’ game spinoffs, which put Shinji Ikari’s fate in the hands of the player. I doubt that even importing the game would have helped anyone less than fluent in Japanese, so it’s nice to see the manga version of Shin Seiki Evangelion: Ikari Shinji Ikusei Keikaku (subtitle: The Shinji Ikari Raising Project) will be making its way over here in late spring/early summer ’09.
– Bandai Entertainment has some Blu-ray madness going on with their upcoming releases, starting with a box set of Freedom (about which you can read more on this very site) in hi-def. The kicker? The MSRP is currently at $139.98. If that’s not steep enough for you, go ahead and toss the Blu-ray of Gunbuster VS Diebuster Aim for the Top! The GATTAI!! Movie on your stack and you should be set. Okay, I’ll definitely be buying that one myself, regardless of what it ends up retailing for.
