The first Pokémon movie—appropriately titled Pokémon: The First Movie—premiered back in 1998. Nearly 20 years later, Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! made its way to theaters in 2017, and the 20th film in the series bridged that gap with a unique spin on nostalgia. Now you can experience both back to back in Pokémon Double Feature: The First Movie and I Choose You!, available to pre-order on Blu-ray and DVD ahead of a November 16 launch!

The first Pokémon movie arrived just as Pokémania was heating up, telling the tragic tale of the Pokémon only science could bring into being, Mewtwo. While Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! doesn’t follow the same path, it touches upon those early days by serving up a loose retelling of the original Pokémon TV anime series, known as Pokémon: Indigo League.

That means we get plenty of injections of pure nostalgia, as iconic Pokémon trainer Ash Ketchum sets out on his quest to fulfill his destiny and uncover a legendary Pokémon. Not only does this provide a convenient refresher for Ash’s origin story, it touches upon some truly memorable scenes from the classic TV series. This is more than just a retread, though, as I Choose You! diverges in some interesting ways while mixing touchstones of the classic anime with an updated setting.

Whether you’re a longtime Pokémon fan looking for a hit of nostalgia or a newcomer interested in the series’s roots, there’s something for everyone in Pokémon Double Feature: The First Movie and I Choose You!. The two-disc set brings both movies together when it arrives on November 16, so order your copy today so you can help Ash catch ’em all!
