Slowpoke is Kagawa prefecture’s official Pokémon ambassador. The prefecture and the Pokémon decided to make this connection because Kagawa is associated with udon noodles and Slowpoke’s Japanese name, Yadon, is close to the word “udon.”
So as the ambassador for Kagawa, it only makes sense to come out with merchandise.
And this is only the start, it seems. On March 19, Kagawa will also be getting a Slowpoke vending machine that’s designed to give people ‘Udon Prefecture X Slowpoke’ merch.
