Bushiroad has an original anime titled Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood on the way, and it took the opportunity to reveal further details during a press conference. Set in an alternate history Japan in 1931 in which the Tokugawa shogunate remained and the Meiji emperor wasn’t restored to power, the anime follows a shogunate executioner organization named Nue as they enforce government rule.

Susumu Kudo (K) is on board as director, with Rika Nezu (Saint Young Men movie) supervises scripts and writes alongside Kunihiko Okada. Kano Komiyama is handling character designs and Jun Yamaguchi is on production design for the series.
Cast members revealed thus far include Shouta Aoi as Makoto Tsukishiro, Ayasa Itou as Asahi Nakamura, Suzuko Mimori as Sawa Yukimura, Raychell as Elena Hanakaze, and Chikahiro Kobayashi as Jin Kuzuhara. You can see each of their respective designs from left to right below.
Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood is currently set for an April 6 premiere on NTV, followed by broadcasts on BS NTV and CS NTV+, as well as week-early episode premieres on Japan’s Hulu service.
