Another break is here for the One Piece manga, but this one is a little more sudden than usual. In fact, the break was so last minute that One Piece remains on the list of contents for the next issue of Shonen Jump, despite the fact that the series will be taking two weeks off.

According to the series’ official X (formerly Twitter) account, the manga is sitting out the next two issues due to author Eiichiro Oda’s poor health. No details were announced, but the announcement states that Oda is currently recovering.

One Piece will be back in the pages of Jump in the first 2025 issue, which hits stands in Japan on December 2, 2024.

The series previously took a three-week break earlier this year so Oda could think about “what One Piece actually is.”

VIZ Media publishes volumes and weekly chapters of the One Piece manga, describing the series like so:

One Piece Plot

As a child, Monkey D. Luffy was inspired to become a pirate by listening to the tales of the buccaneer “Red-Haired” Shanks. But his life changed when Luffy accidentally ate the Gum-Gum Devil Fruit and gained the power to stretch like rubber…at the cost of never being able to swim again! Years later, still vowing to become the king of the pirates, Luffy sets out on his adventure…one guy alone in a rowboat, in search of the legendary “One Piece,” said to be the greatest treasure in the world…
