One Piece Ice Skating Show Will Adapt Classic Arc

one piece on ice

One Piece on Ice was recently announced as the series’ first ice skating show, and now we know what subject matter it will tackle. The arc of choice might surprise you considering the locale, because this frosty showcase aims to adapt the desert-based Alabasta arc from Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga and its anime adaptation.

The Alabasta arc first took place in chapters 155-217 of the One Piece manga, collected in volumes 17-24, and was adapted over the course of 39 episodes in the anime.

The One Piece on Ice show is coming to Kanagawa in August and Aichi in September, and Luffy is front and center in a new visual for the event, which you can see both at the top of the article and below.

You can catch new episodes of the One Piece anime—which just returned from a brief break on March 19—every week on Crunchyroll. Here’s the official synopsis:

Monkey. D. Luffy refuses to let anyone or anything stand in the way of his quest to become the king of all pirates. With a course charted for the treacherous waters of the Grand Line and beyond, this is one captain who’ll never give up until he’s claimed the greatest treasure on Earth: the Legendary One Piece!
