The One Piece anime first started in 1999, so the 25th anniversary celebrations are in full swing. One of the latest efforts is an anime special titled One Piece Fan Letter, based on the One Piece novel Mugiwara Stories short story collection by Tomohito Osaki.
The special is set to premiere on TV in Japan on October 20, 2024, and you can see a trailer below.

Megumi Ishitani, who previously helmed the 25th and 26th opening sequences, is director for the One Piece Fan Letter special, with Keisuke Mori (animation director on opening 26) handling character designs and animation direction, based on a script by Momoka Toyoda (My Happy Marriage).
The stories follow everyday characters in the world of One Piece who find the Straw Hat members affecting their lives in some way. The first three stories of Osaki’s original series were published from July to September 2017 in One Piece Magazine. The collection then added six more stories when Shueisha published it all together in November 2017.
Based on the manga by Eiichiro Oda, the One Piece anime premiered in October 1999, so the special lines up nicely for the precise 25th anniversary. Over 1,100 episodes have aired since, all of which are available to stream and on home video from Crunchyroll.
