Oi! Tonbo Golf Manga Scores Anime Adaptation in 2024

oi! tonbo

Oi! Tonbo is a golf manga written by Ken Kawasaki and illustrated by Yu Furusawa that has been running in Weekly Golf Digest since August 2014, amassing 45 collected volumes as of June 2023. Now it’s getting a TV anime adaptation, with plans currently penciled in for a 2024 debut.

The news was initially reported in the 44th volume of the manga, which lists the adaptation on its wraparound jacket band.

In Oi! Tonbo, Igarashi finds himself disqualified from pro golfing after a certain “incident,” so he steps out of the spotlight and moves to Kagoshima Prefecture’s Tokara Islands. It’s within “Japan’s last unexplored wilderness” that he meets a local girl named Tonbo who happens to have an incredible aptitude for golf.

Stay tuned for more on the adaptation as details are divulged.
